'''Mishnu''' reigns on high as the Alpha, serving as the head of the High Council as well as the leader of the entire society of the Eternals.  Information gathering, multiversal diplomacy, cultural knowledge, languages, logic, military operations, technological aptitude, and scientific study – these are just a handful of the vast number of things the Alpha must know and be able to do.  If the purpose of the Eternals is to facilitate the constructive growth and smooth working of the multiverse, then the Alpha is the personification of that purpose.  The Alpha also has the great responsibility of communing with the multiverse, shifting into a higher state of consciousness to 'talk' with the Creator, maker of all things and founder of the Eternals' society.  Mishnu is aided in her work by the Beta, Delta, and Gamma – three positions that specialize in logistics and information, sciences, and the arts respectively.  Together, these four positions make up the High Council, the leading Eternals which preside over the society, as well as acting as the superior judges of the High Court.

Mishnu is a strong-willed woman with a tough-as-nails personality.  Because of her numerous responsibilities, she's constantly being bombarded with problems and sees the need not for people to detail those problems, but to work to solve them, determined to get the job done.  In nearly every major situation and incident, Mishnu's quick thinking and strong leadership skills (guided by the advice of [[Fabian]] the Beta) have lead her to make the correct decisions, earning her the devotion and respect of the Eternals.  However, there are times when she feels lost and indecisive, ashamed of these circumstances since the Alpha cannot afford to appear weak before the people whose well-being she carries.  Mishnu is the youngest Eternal on the High Council and the second-youngest in terms of tenure.  Because of this lack of seniority, Mishnu has always been determined to do flawless work, so as to substantiate the faith the High Court gave her in placing her in the position of Alpha.  Mishnu's peerless dedication is achieved, but at the price of an ever-increasing reclusiveness and fatigue.  Her peers and friends of the High Council believe this to be unhealthy and counterproductive, but know that it's the only way Mishnu can keep up her strength to deal with the unending flow of responsibilities she must shoulder.  Sometimes, when she is alone, her thoughts drift to [[Saint]], whom she developed a fondness for during the time he served as Sigma.  Mishnu keeps these thoughts and feelings hidden inside of her and goes on giving each task at hand her full attention and best effort.


==Skills and Appearance==

In all things Mishnu presents a dignified appearance worthy of being the leader of the Eternals; a beautiful woman with a lithe figure.  She has rich black hair that reaches almost to her waist and eyes that gleam a silvery grey.  Most often she can be seen in her personal uniform, a white dresslike robe that glows with a soft golden light.  Mishnu is fond of wearing comfortable mortals' clothes in her off-time, but she seldom has much of that.  She wears no jewelry or ornaments except for a small vial hung around her neck containing what appears to the eye to be a tiny, perfect rose – a 'miniature version' of the Creator, and her everlasting memento to Mishnu.

Mishnu is an excellent sorceress, master of a great number of spells and magical styles from across the multiverse.  Her core magical style, instead of invoking powers or deities, is based around utilizing the energy of ether present throughout existence and shaping it into the form of the effect she desires – an unconventional form of magic passed down from her teachers (who themselves learned from [[Yuo]]).  She can still cast normal spells, of course, and finds magic useful in aiding her in the variety of tasks she undertakes.  Both in battle and ceremony, she wields the powerful Nym Scepter, a named Eternals weapon that strengthens and empowers those closely in tune with the flow of energy and the arcane arts.  The scepter also makes unconventional targeting – such as multi-target homing spells, precise area effect, or casting through dimensions – easier to perform.
==History==

As the Alpha, Mishnu's personal record and data are not accessible to most Eternals.  What is known is that Mishnu is a 'Pure' Eternal – an Eternal either born from a union between two Eternals, or formed by the Creator herself.  Only 'Pure Eternals' have the ability to channel the essence of the multiverse, transcending existence and going into a trancelike 'conversation' with the Creator.  Mishnu is unusually adept at this, though no one knows why.

Mishnu entered the Eternals' society sometime during the long period between the Third and Fourth Void Wars, siding perhaps a bit closer to the fourth.  She remembers no parents or childhood memories, yet also has no memory of being made by the Creator - however, she does possess a few scattered fragments of memories, most often associated with transmigrated eternals.  Upon entering the Eternals' society, she studied magic for a time, but was quickly chosen to be an Epsilon of the Alpha after the Fourth Void War, in which she fought and honed her power and prowess with magic in combat against the forces of the Void.  Although she performed excellently as an Epsilon, there was no previous evidence to mark her ability as a natural leader, and many wondered how this relatively 'young' Eternal could make so much progress, ascending the ranks in a short time.  Some suspect that Fabian's hand was in it, but nothing could be proven.

Mishnu was selected by the High Court to succeed the position of Alpha after the events of [[Survivor I]].  Though the second-least tenured member of the current High Council, she nonetheless has proven her aptitude time and again, and continues her duties as the Alpha to this day.

==Mishnu and Fabian - The Mysterious Origin==

Mishnu and Fabian, the current Alpha and Beta, seem to share a deep connection that goes beyond age, rank, and even memories.  Although Fabian's joining of the Eternals predates Mishnu's by a considerable margin, the two have long been thought to share a mysterious origin and history.  

Sometimes, when Eternals are transfigured from a mortal state, their 'Essence' is incapable of transferring perfectly to their immortal form – a phenomenon known as 'Lost Essence'.  In these cases, the Creator would fill in the missing spaces with her own design.  The effect of this has been documented as being anything from full memory of one's past as a mortal (which is never supposed to happen) to the gaining of powerful supernatural abilities.  Mishnu and Fabian – though both test positively as 'Pure Eternals' – possess such abilities.  Complimentary abilities, in fact. 

In a state of high power, both can produce a large ring of energy that orbits their body, made up of semi-translucent squares inscribed with characters from an unknown language.  Mishnu's ring glows pure white, while Fabian's appears black.  The Alpha and Beta call them the 'White Halo' and 'Black Halo', respectively.  When deployed, these rings of unknown energy or origin appear to allow Mishnu and Fabian to access unique, extremely powerful spells and techniques that seem to be custom-fit for them.  Even when the halos are not deployed, the Alpha and Beta are known to possess innate supernatural influences unnatural even for Eternals.  Mishnu has the gift of Blessing, strengthening her compatibility with arcane powers, increasing her ability to synchronize with the fabric of existence, dispelling negative energy, and allowing her to awaken any latent power someone may have.  Fabian possesses the power of Curse, allowing him to be completely unaffected by curses or other fell sorcery, to use the full power of cursed artifacts without feeling the effects of the curse or the sway of evil energies, and to wield the power of darkness without harm to himself.  These abilities as an innate quality are something that has not been seen before, least of all in 'Pure Eternals'.

More interesting is the way in which Fabian and Mishnu seem to be unusually close, even from when Mishnu had just joined the Eternals.  From the start, Fabian seemed to have an interest in her, and there is evidence that he helped groom her to be a likely candidate for Alpha Epsilon, then Alpha.  Exactly how the two know each other or what kind of relationship they share is the source of much rumor among curious Eternals.  Some suggest that they were both once mortal soldiers who fought in the same army and became close comrades, promising to meet again after their death.  Others maintain that he was some sort of poet or artist and she was a muse-like woman he loved but could never have, for reasons unknown.  Others swear that they're unknowingly brother and sister, and the last surviving members of their family or race.  Another theory (conjectured by many in the scientific sectors) is that they are dual components of an ancient codex (a dead language with powerful mystical properties) whose purpose is to combat and imprison something known only as 'X-S' (pronounced 'zees'), and that their halos are a manifestation of this codex.

Whatever rumor one chooses to believe, the problem is that the pieces never quite fit.  If Fabian and Mishnu were both once mortals and knew each other before being transfigured, why does so much time separate their appearances in the Eternals' history?  Why also do they both have the ability to attain the higher state of consciousness unique to Pure Eternals?  If they were born from the conception of two Eternals, why does neither remember any parents or memories from childhood?  And why do they both possess powers characteristic of 'Lost Essence' transfigured Eternals?  If they were made by the Creator herself, why not as a pair, since their abilities suggest being counterparts?  And why, if the Creator made them herself, do both recall having the little pieces of broken, foggy memories characteristic of a transfigured Eternal?  The truth of Fabian and Mishnu's origin and connection is perhaps one of the greatest mysteries in the Eternals' society, and nobody knows for sure how important the ramifications of this mystery are.

Fabian, however, seems to be aware that there IS a connection, though how much he actually knows is uncertain, for he guards his mind closely.  Having been an Eternal for much longer than Mishnu, he may have had a chance to examine his own fragmented memories to a greater extent, or work on slowly piecing the puzzle together himself.  Fabian, having risen through the ranks of the Eternals with astonishing speed due to his sterling performance and flawless excellence, has been rumored to have groomed Mishnu to do the same.  In the past, this has raised some suspicion regarding Fabian's actions, as well as whether or not he has some sort of ulterior motive.  As always, the Beta keeps whatever he knows of this matter solely to himself, perhaps to remain a shrouded mystery for ages to come.
