{| width="100%" |- valign="middle" || '''Remus Fortunato (deceased)''', last Reigning Minister of the former nation of Red Lotus on the planet Nusuth. In relatively short lifetimes, Remus was at the forefront of enormous conflict as the last blood heir to the Mishnory family line, chosen to lead only by his mother's heritage. Painfully sympathetic to the plight of the Lotus War on Nusuth, but was quite naive and was wrongly convinced that calm pacifism would be the end of the feud. Remus had a friendly and charismatic personality, and was admired for his chivalry and grace among both the warring Red and Black Lotus nations. Remus' dreamlike naivete and the indulgences he eventually partook in, however, became a direct factor in his criticism from the Black Lotus nation, and particularly the subject of his homosexuality was a subject of immense controversy in the more conservative sects of Black Lotus. At this point in time, Remus Fortunato is clinically dead and has been so for some time now. However, his philote and a sample of his DNA are kept under extremely close guard by the Alpha, Mishnu: they are sealed in a geminite-fortified diamond on a ring, which Mishnu wears on her left hand. Only in the most extreme of emergencies on the sub-quarkian level will Mishnu feel it necessary to utilize Remus' philote for use. |align="right"| http://cheese.kefi.org/written/wiki/rem_s.png |} ==Skills and Appearance== As required by previous Red Lotus administrations, Remus was trained in handheld firearm use and was quite proficient at that skill, with a pinpoint aim; also employed nimble gymnastics in combination with the aforementioned skills to become a quick and lithe long-range fighter. Remus had five inseminations to grant him additional magical power in addition to the sealed ability of his bloodline; these five inseminations gave him strong control over fire, water, earth and wind, and granted him an acute sixth sense of heightened emotional awareness. The sealed power of his bloodline was that of granting a sole wish to a person, which was absolutely forbidden of use for obvious reasons. Remus has other miscellaneous skills as well; he plays violin, piano and guitar, and has an infamous special talent for making fancy desserts. Remus was a generally androgynous person in all of his lives, no matter which sex at the time - keeping slender and wistful female features mixed with a defined face and boyish frame of a male. His hair color was a very light brown (close to a tan color) and his eyes were a dark chocolate color. Usually wore a short turquoise suede jacket with dual breast pockets, a thin white tanktop shirt, ball-chain necklace, and leather sandals. Depending on which life (and therefore sex) he was in, he either wore a pair of loose khaki cargo pants as a male or a pleated khaki skirt as a female. ==History== Remus Fortunato was born to Tellurium Fortunato and Antimony Mishnory through somewhat less-than-normal circumstances, as Tellurium was well into his fourties when his youngest son was conceived (leading to some speculation as to whether Antimony had an affair, but the rumors were proved false). Some years prior, all three of the reigning couples' sons, Lucian, Sari and Katyai, had been murdered in a sneak attack from Black Lotus, and Tellurium had been under some pressure to raise another direct heir to the throne, if he would not allow a temporary minister to replace him until the next heir could be decided on (Tellurium had become somewhat senile after the murder of his sons). The 'natural course of events' followed through and Remus - not the dead Katyai - became the last direct blood heir to the Mishnory throne. Antimony realized very quickly that Remus was incredibly precocious, and in a bit of a folly had him raised in math, science and art, not the speech and politics with which was customary for a heir (and which proved disastrous later on in Remus' life). In his new private school he met and became best friends with Avicenna ('Avi') Wind. Both of the boys excelled in studies so much that they were often let to work with upperclassmen, a class of whom included Sirius Maxwell and [[Portica Montresor]]. Remus and Sirius were only loose friends at first, until Sirius' continued studies in politics and history led him to spend more and more time at the Castle of Mishnory. There being relatively few others of Remus' age in his home, he and Sirius soon became quite close as years passed. Both Remus and Sirius had had magic inseminations at a very young age, though Sirius' focused on 'teleskills'; an insemination set particularly infamous for the mental trauma it puts a person through, when the powers begin to manifest at puberty. Sirius' 'breaking out' process occurred abruptly during a research session in the Castle, with only Remus at his side to help him through. Although Sirius was already seeing another partner at the time and Remus was still quite young (nine years old), this event was the first step in the pair's own relationship. Remus' studies in science and math blossomed and he began to investigate subatomic particles under the supervision of Portica Montresor, analyzing the energy strings that formed quarks, and specifically the individual strings which contained memory data (which he called philotes). Eventually he, with help from Avi, started to form an equation that would isolate the single philote within the entire collection of memory-related philotes that linked all of the data together (essentially locating the 'brain' of a person's soul), which boiled over into a two-year process. Near the very beginning of his research, Remus confessed his affections for Sirius and the two began their own relationship with the consummation two years later. Over the tenure of his research, activity stirring in Black Lotus finally reared its head in an attack by their infamous assassin team, the Raiden, in an attempt to destroy the laboratories that were the source of magic insemination research. Remus and Avi became directly entangled in the strike, with Avi losing to the female Raiden, [[Seidou Umi]] and Remus killing the male Raiden, Tanaka Miki. The result of this encounter led Umi to side with the Red Lotus and turned out to be the beginning of the end for the Lotus War. Shortly afterwards Tellurium Fortunato resigned as Reigning Minister of Mishnory and bestowed the title onto Remus, but the title was short-lived as Remus died in a freak accident, killed by a power overload in the computers damaged by the Raiden. His philotic research had been completed, however, and so he had managed to isolate his own main philote in the seconds before his death. Portica Montresor led the team that restored Remus back to life, but she neglected to say whom the restoration was for and as a consequence, the unassuming team mistakenly constructed a female zygote. By the time Portica realized what had happened, the process could not be reversed, and from that point, Remus' sex was female. (She opted not to change sex, feeling it was partially to atone for living after death) For the two years after that Remus' life became strained and hectic, thrust into a leadership role she did not understand and caught in a strange position with Sirius, who was naturally put-off by the accident and the change in sex. (Almost perpendicular to her struggles with Sirius was how she grew closer to Umi in this time) Portica had succeeded her father's position of Military-Conflict Adviosor in that time and changed drastically: where once she only dreamed of the ideals of an absolute end to the war that had killed so many around her, now she was in a position to fully carry out her objectives, and broke a few laws in transporting to exotic planets, snatching away 'specimens' with which she could cultivate the skills necessary for total war. Naturally Remus decided her judgment was completely off, and attempted to lead those who Portica had captured back to Mishnory in order to return them to their rightful homes, but she was killed once more by the most radical Black Lotus citizen of all, Sakamoto Toshihiko ('Jyou'). Again, she recovered her philote and was restored back to the proper sex by Portica, who had undertaken the duty of constructing another body on her own; presumably to make sure there were no flaws in the process. While Remus was recuperating, Portica had gone forward and trapped all of those who she had brought into their world, slowly sucking away DNA, technical schematics, philotes and whatever else she could extract. She could not completely fufill this agenda, after the Muses of Septerra intervened and brought all of the captured to safety on the other side of the world, where Portica could not reach them. After experiencing the true stress of war, Remus rashly decided to head to Jurai, the Black Lotus capital, and surrender simply to clear away the bloodstains. The process turned out not to be so simple, for Portica had retained a trump card in the form of the Gamma, and had decided simply to end the war by destroying the planet with the power of the Void (which had corrupted her thoroughly). With the help of [[Glenn Salientia]], Remus was able to save Septerra before her death, and thus with his world brought back to the Eternals and the Lotuses at peace, the war was seemingly over. Things could not remain the same as they had been before on the planet Nusuth, however; the two governments that had started the war had to dissolve and the two heirs could not remain on the planet for not only the risk of a coup d'etat, but because of the threat of their innate powers as well (Remus' sealed wish-magic and Shinobu Ayase's preemptive sight (a recessive trait)). The most convenient method of bringing away the heirs was simply to take them to [[Arcadia]], but both Ayase and Remus refused to do so - although Remus was later convinced by Sirius to save at least his philote, which [[Mishnu]] agreed upon. Currently, Remus is clinically dead, with his main philote residing in a ring on Mishnu's left hand, finding life as a string of energy quite lonely - but after his past sins, he isn't much sure he minds that life too much.
