{| width="100%" |- valign="middle" || "When I have lost everything, what more can I have but the desire for revenge?" Sasurai Ishubarashi, a master of summoning and utilizing portals, was the one whose desire for revenge set the events of Survivor 18 into motion. |align="right"| http://sirwayne.taikaiwiki.com/wiki/sasurai.jpg |} === History === Sasurai Ishubarashi, originally called "Makoto Shima," lived in a peaceful village tucked into the sheltering arms of the Minbou Mountains. He, being the only one in that world that had mastered dimensional travel, had taken to defending that village from depredations. However, one fateful day, the Void broke through the weak barrier of Essence and devoured the entire universe; Sasurai alone escaped, saved by an emissary of the Order of Transcendence. It was at that time that Sasurai swore to get revenge on whomever was responsible for his world's destruction. This Order granted Sasurai asylum, and under their tutelage, Sasurai quickly expanded his knowledge of dimensional travel and his power thereof. He ascended the hierarchy of the Order, and was soon granted an audience with [[Klirailis]], the Master of the Order and a Trilarian that, Sasurai believed, could show him the kind of power he'd need in order to obtain revenge. However, [[Klirailis]] didn't show him what he needed, but rather, the kind of force he'd be setting himself up against: even through the filter of the Plane of Memories, the sight of the sheer all-consuming power of the Void killed all hope Sasurai had held of defeating it. In despair, Sasurai fled the Order and threw himself into trying to find some means of fulfilling his oath without destroying himself in the process. After a great deal of research, he found the records of the Great Void Wars, and it was there that he found his hope. He decided that, if the Void could not be held accountable for the destruction of his world, then the Eternal who had left the world to its fate '''would.''' Shortly after making this determination, Sasurai encountered a kindred soul in [[Wish]]: the warrior quickly agreed to aid Sasurai in his efforts for revenge, and Sasurai took heart that others would be willing to assist him. However, due to the destruction they caused, both of them were quickly apprehended by Alfred Norman Jeeves. Far from being punished for his impudence, however, Sasurai found that [[Diamantha]], a goddess with incredible power in her own realm, would be more than willing to aid him in his efforts. Offering her material resources and her vast network of contacts, [[Diamantha]] quickly cut a deal with the two of them. She was good as her word, and Sasurai was introduced to [[Auditor of Reality]]. [[Wish]] quickly jumped to the attack, but Sasurai found his powers locked down by [[Auditor of Reality]]'s ability to alter reality; thereby, all he could do was watch and listen as [[Wish]] was temporarily stopped and [[Auditor of Reality]] offered a full picture of what happened. It was at that time that Sasurai learned of the rumored "Omega Power." Learning that it was not just one Eternal, but their entire methodology, that had doomed his world, Sasurai expanded his oath to include the entire Eternal's system. He would not be content until he had caused the Eternals the same pain that he had felt, and [[Auditor of Reality]] agreed to facilitate this wish. [[Auditor of Reality]] lead the entire team to Sigil, where they encountered [[Narthalyssk]]. It, too, agreed to aid Sasurai in his wish, and the five of them soon hatched a scheme to that effect. While Sasurai was reluctant to engage in a 'tournament,' especially one involving worlds doomed to destruction by the Void, he agreed in the end to act as the primary host. If it would lead to his vengeance finding the Eternals, Sasurai was willing to go along with such a plan. === Abilities === Sasurai's sole power is the ability to open portals to other dimensions. However, he has an incredible degree of flexibility in utilizing that power; he can transport himself; form a 'shield' that warps powers directed at him to other areas; transport only parts of opponents, causing personal damage; summoning energy directly from other planes; as well as healing himself by travelling to the Positive Energy Plane. Sasurai can create these portals nearly instantly, but quick enemies are still typically able to evade. Sasurai has been experimenting with more creative uses of his powers, such as opening two portals to once to damage an enemy with its own weapons, and so on. === Quirks and Personality === Sasurai is torn between his desire for revenge and his desire to save other worlds from the fate he himself narrowly avoided. He is becoming unsure of himself and his intentions, due to learning in a very short amount of time just how limited his powers are and how small his understanding truly is. While he can lead others, he prefers to have his options laid out for them and follow one or the other. Sasurai is polite and disciplined, and tends to project a personable air that makes him easy to get along with. Despite this charisma, he finds it easy to make enemies... his strong sense of duty, and frustration with those who abuse their station, especially when it leads to loss of life, leads him frequently to anger. A patient, honorable man, he is willing to get along with all but the most unforgivable-- such as the hated [[Eternals]], who he felt were responsible for the loss of his home. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Sasurai is deathly afraid of the dark. Hence he has become quite adept at opening portals to the Illuminated Heaven and other planes of Radiance, and tends to favor using those. Due to the ease of controlling them, he also enjoys opening portals to the Elemental Planes in battle.
