He is a character who's background is briefly shown over two episodes of the anime, and much of what you are reading here is raw unfiltered madness from the mouth of Lucent. Space Butler was originally relegated to the realm of non-canonical appearances, but since the acceptance of Neon Genesis Rurouni Taikai into the EMC, he has become a horrifying part of our collective reality. == Character History == An overhead lamp flickered for a few moments with the slam of a metal door, it was the only source of illumination in the rather sparse office. Clacking footsteps of hard-soled shoes moved from the doorway across the wood floor, stepping into the pale glow of the desk lamp. Looking up from his desk, detective Koshi Rikudo saw a very tall man in a very nice suit--dark grey (though t almost looked black in the dim lighting) with pale vermillion pin-stripes. One lapel on the man's suit was a bright red color with a black carnation pinned to it, while the other was the same dark grey as the suit with a red trim. Worn beneath was a stylish black dress shirt worn unbuttoned showing off the man's muscular neck. The way he stood in the light shadowed his face, save for a reflection off of a pair of rectangular-lensed glasses. Detective Rikudo leaned back on two legs of his chair, folding his arms across his chest. He stared across his furrowed brow and over the top of his glasses at the tall man. "Well?" He asked, crooking the corner of his mouth upwards. The tall man took another step forward, reaching inside of his jacket, producing a manilla envelope which he tossed onto Rikudo's desk unceremoniously. Quirking a brow, detective Rikudo flopped his chair back on all four legs with a wooden thud sound and leaned forward, flipping open the envelope and pawing through the contents with greedy anticipation. As he leafed through the paperwork inside, his eyes shifted back up to the tall man, his smirk fading a bit. "What the hell is this?" He didn't bother to mask his frustration. "Your end of the bargain." The tall man said rather matter-of-factly, "Full rights." Rikudo tugged at his red tie, loosening it and unfastening the top button on his powder blue shirt. He sighed, leaning back in the chair, spreading out the documents on his desk. Upon which were some surveillance photos, and a signed waiver with his own name on it: "I, Koshi Rikudo hereby give permission for Excel Saga to be turned into a gritty film-noir cop-drama surrounding a mysterious vigilante and the government hunting him down." Detective Rikudo glanced up from the document to the tall man again, furrowing his brow even more so to emphasize his foul mood. "Do not act surprised, drtective. It's the only way we can catch him." The tall man's voice was deep and coarse, like that guy who does movie trailers, you know the one. Rikudo ran his hands through his hair, tilting his head to the side to gaze out his grimy window, half-shaded by venitian blinds to the night-time skyline of tokyo. "So, he's the one... and you're certain?" Rikudo asks, looking back from the window to the tall man. "Without a doubt." He states calmly, pointng to the surveillance photos. Rikudo's gaze now focused on them, a series of photos that look to have been taken in what looks like an old chinese neighborhood. "Where is this?" Rikudo asks, adjusting his glasses, now noticing that the photos are made on an old matte-finish paper with ridged edges, they were in a sepia-tone as well--very antiquated. "The more appropriate question, detective, is when." The tall man states in a strong baritone. Rikudo looks down at the picture closer, leaning his face close to the photographs. "That photograph was taken in Shanghai China in 1915 by an amateur photographer just moments before a full-scale battle took place between several other 'participants'." Rikudo doesn't look up as the tall man gives his narraitive, he only continues his inspection of the photographs. "The other photo is from the JSSDF special operations file, a photograph recivered after the flood incident two years ago. You'll notice in the Shanghai photograph that our target is being followed by one of the creatures believed to be responsible for the flood and the failed invasion." Rikudo looks up at the statement of 'invasion'. "Yeah, that was swept under the rug by the government. There was no experimental space-station that lost its orbit. The ship belonged to an advanced alien race, whom we believe surrivors of their people escaped following the flood in the city." Rikudo nods, looking back to the paperwork. "He's..." "Yes, he worked alongside Japan's most lethal special-ops agent during the war." The tall man says in interjection, "It was believed he died, but it would seem he's been up to quite a bit." "So he's... how is it that he's as old as he is?" Rikudo asks, sliding the Shanghai photo over towards the tall-man. "We're under the assertation that he's not." Rikudo tilts his head to the side, looking over the egde of his glasses for dramatic effect. "We believe he was working in tandem with two additional beings of unknown origin that seemed to be ringmastering the events that leveled Shanghai. The details surrounding them are sparse, and information on the other Class-S entities involved in the decimation is just as ethereal. The only solid lead we have to go on, is him." "So, that's why you needed my files and permissions?" Rikudo shakes his head, putting some of the pieces of the puzzle together finally. "This is just a step in a bigger operation by your section, isn't it?" The tall man doesn't afford Rikudo a nod, his agreement is merely understood at this point. "I guess it's too late to go back. Just..." Rikudo folds his hands behind his head, reclining back in his chair again, "Try not to cause too much collateral damage to the city?" The tall man nods slightly, the light reflecting off of his narrow glasses the only indication of such. Without much more, he turns from Rikudo's desk and walks back to the door, his shoes clacking on the wood floor with every step, pausing after he opens the door to look towards Rikudo. "This goes beyond you, Rikudo, remember that." The tall-man says as he exits, closing the door with a metallic clunk behind himself. Rikudo slouches down in his chair, letting loose a tense sigh. "So...." He says to himself, grabbing the dossier out of the paperwork, "This is how it goes?" Rikudo is left to his own thoughts, lowering his eyes to the dossier and the photos once more...

Rikudo says, rubbing his hand across his forehead as he turns to the assorted photographs that are strewn about his desk... "Looks like he gets around..." Detective Rikudo muttered as he slid the last photograph back into the envelope. "Traveling thorugh time eh?" Rikudo questions to himself, slipping the dossier into the envelope as well. "Madness..." With that, Rikudo throws the envelope into his metal waste-basket, turning to open a drawer in his desk and retrieving a box of wooden matches. Detective Rikudo slides a cigarette out of his breast pocket, resting it between his lips as he strikes the match, the soft yellow glow cast across his face along with the strong but short scent of sulphur and smoke, followed by the caress of cheap tobacco. Rikudo looks at the match, staring into the flame, and drops it into the waste basket. Fire slowly engulfs the folder, smoke issuing forth from within as the pictures and documents burn to a crisp. Rikudo grabs his coat from a nearby rack, swinging it over his shoulder witho ne hand, looking down into the waste basket, he says with a sense of nostalgia, "See you later, Space Butler." == Tournament Appearances == {| width="100%" |- style="border: 1px solid #7577B7; color: #000000; background-color: #E4E4F2" !width="25%"|Tournament !width="15%"|Iteration !width="20%"|Status !width="20%"|Sponsored By !width="20%"|Eliminated |- style="border: 1px solid #7577B7; color: #000000; background-color: #E4E4F2" ||Neon Genesis Rurouni Taikai ||EXL00001 ||Sponsor ||Lucent ||Tournament Cancelled |- style="border: 1px solid #7577B7; color: #000000; background-color: #E4E4F2" |} == Tournament History == Space Butler's history begins sometime after the Pu-Chuu invasion in Excel Saga, where he was abducted by an alternate-universe version of Eir Adeline and her partner Jaide. Space Butler was thrown across worlds, time and space in his discovery that the universe was more than just what he knew, and that billions of other realities existed that he could explore. His journey ended with a showdown with Cowboy Andy during a parade, after which he was rolled up by a Katamari for an unknown period fo time--perhaps also having been turned into a star, though he "got better." Not log after these events, Space Butler was recruited by his old friend Nabeshin and his buddies Jack Evergrey, Billy Aina, and Sadie Aic to help hunt down the nefarious Hideki Anno. However, unbeknownst to Space Butler, his presence within the Continuous and the prime multiverse at large was a aberration of multiversal physics. As such, he was to be detained and questioned by a member of the Eternals Department of Justice known as Casca. During the events of NGRT, Space Butler was reunited with his longtime friend Nabeshin, and the two spent only a short period of time together aboard Space Ball One--enough time to perform their double-technique the Nabe-Hame-Ha and Butler-Doken. Eventually the two managed to defeat (along with Unicron >.>) the evil cybernetic Hideki Anno, and save the multiverse. After doing so, Space Butler vanished back into anonymity, waiting for another day when his powers would be called upon. However, the Eternal Casca was always one step behind Space Butler, and in the end was unable to find and capture him. His mission still stands to this day.
