The Leviathan is the manifested spiritual representation of the Void. It is a creature of seemingly infinite vastness, capable of consuming entire universes in minutes. It appears to be a serpentine dragon, wrapping its coils around the object of its destruction. Its breath weapon is a cone of Void energy, capable of destroying nearly anything it strikes. The Leviathan was created in the action that originally called the Void, in the early beginnings of the Multiverse. It had only a will to destroy that reality and attempted to do so, but it was driven away by the universe's ability to "iterate," and such power formed a buffer against the Void. As it consumes realities, the Leviathan gains a more clear picture of what it "is." Its appearance, powers, and so on have gradually changed and increased to reflect the realities absorbed into it. As powerful as the Leviathan is, it cannot exist in material realities on its own. It must be linked to an avatar already present in that world and attempting to work to its destruction. The Leviathan's current-- if indeed it ever had another-- avatar is the Shadow Dragon Narthalyssk. The Leviathan has no goals or plots beyond the destruction of the Multiverse due to its inevitable consumption, and rarely needs to appear itself; typically, the Leviathan only rises if the Void is incapable of dealing with the gods of a reality, and they have been so weakened they cannot stop the avatar... a rare conjunction. In ED 4319 Narthalyssk joined Sasurai's tournament, for the ultimate goal of acquiring the Spell of Mastery from Rjak, a Dark Elf Warlock on Arcanus; the spell's power would allow him to travel to any world as long as it was connected to the flow of arcane magic. As many are, success would have advanced the Void's timetable manyfold... but Narthalyssk was defeated and sealed within Kain's Soul Reaver. The Leviathan vanished immediately, only to return when its avatar is once again freed.
